Barbara Heck

BARBARA, (Heck), Born 1734 in Ballingrane, Republic of Ireland. She is the mother of Bastian (Sebastian) Ruckle and Margery Embury. 1734 Ballingrane (Republic of Ireland) is the daughter of Bastian (Sebastian) Ruckle and Margaret Embury m. 1760 Paul Heck in Ireland and they had seven children of who four were born and survived to. 17 Aug. 1804 Augusta Township Upper Canada.

Normaly, the person who is being profiled is either a key participant in an important occasion or has made an extraordinary declaration or suggestion that was documented. Barbara Heck, on the however, has not left notes or written documents. Evidence of such items as her date of marriage, is only secondary. Through the entirety of her adulthood, there are no primary sources that permit us to trace the motives or actions of her. Despite this, she was a cult figure at the dawn of Methodism. The job of a biographer is to account and explain the legend and describe if possible the real individual who is hidden in the myth.

Abel Stevens a Methodist Historian wrote about this event in 1866. Barbara Heck is now unquestionably one of the pioneer women in the historical record of New World ecclesiastical women, because of the advancements achieved by Methodism. Her reputation is more based on the importance of the cause she was involved in than on her personal life. Barbara Heck played a lucky contribution to the birth of Methodism, both in the United States and Canada. Her name is well-known because of the manner in which winning groups and organizations often celebrate their founding.
